2005 National Jamboree

At the 2005 National Jamboree over 43,000 scouts,
leaders and staff came together at Fort AP Hill creating
the fastest growing city in the commonwealth of Virginia.
Throughout the Jamboree, scouts had the opportunity
to climb, bike, boat, advance in rank, and best of
all have fun! The activities at Jamboree are seemingly
countless meaning the opportunities to make every day
a great day for scouting at the jamboree are endless.
The National Jamboree attracts scouters from not only
the United States but from all over the world. Numerous
high ranking government dignitaries visit Jamboree
because they understand that the scouting movement
is training the leaders of tomorrow and helping to
make strong youth in America through activities that
build true character. President Bush addressed more
than 75,000 scouts and celebrated the timeless values
the scouting movement promotes. Senate Majority Leader
Bill Frist visited in addition to the Surgeon General.
Chief Scout Executive Roy L. Williams and BSA President
John Cushman recognized scouts in a national court
of honor for extraordinary bravery. Plans for the 2010
National Jamboree have already begun and actually begun
before the 2005 National Jamboree took place. It will
signify the 100th anniversary celebration of the Boy
Scouts of America. But before the biggest celebration
the Boy Scouts of America has ever seen, 2007 will
show scouting's best to the entire planet with the
21st World Jamboree in Hylands Park, Chelmsford, England.
